I urge your publication to cover environmental justice issues.
Minority, low income, indigenous, and fossil-fuel dependent communities are disproportionately burdened by environmental hazards, such as polluted air and water. According to a study by the University of Washington and the Nature Conservancy, these communities are also the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Vulnerable communities have the least power to fight for their health, and it is horrendous that they have to bear the largest environmental burdens.
We need environmental justice and we need it now. For many poor and minority communities, the air they breathe, the food they eat, and the water they drink are unhealthy. It is time to cover the crisis!
