The Pacifica Progressive Alliance held a public Zoom meeting Thursday (July 2) at 7 p.m. to discuss the District 1 election coming up in the fall.
But, when the Pacifica Tribune joined the meeting to cover it, the newspaper was told by Suzanne Moore, who appeared to be running the meeting, that the meeting was “by invitation only.” The writer was also questioned about where he lived and whether he lived in District 1.
There appeared to be about eight people in on the meeting. Some in the group said they had no problem with the newspaper covering the Zoom meeting, but an unidentified voice said that she didn’t like the way the newspaper reported on the RV parking issue and was “uncomfortable” with the press at the meeting.
Moore subsequently told the newspaper to get off the call because it was by “invitation only”. The newspaper clicked off when asked to do so by Moore.
The newspaper received notice of the meeting via email. The group’s website advertised the meeting not as an invitation only meeting as asserted by Moore but as an “everyone welcome.” As of last week, the group’s website said everyone was invited because “Your Voice Matters.”
