Parker Lindow, of the Pacifica 4-H Club, was awarded grand champion honors in Market Turkeys from the San Mateo County Virtual Livestock Show in an awards ceremony held in early October. The county’s virtual show was held over the summer since the county fair was canceled due to shelter-in-place restrictions.
Gabriel Harmon, also of Pacifica 4-H, received first place awards for weight classes in Market Lambs, Market Swine and
Dairy Goats. Members Ryanne Reynolds, Megan Barry-Schoen, and Kaiden Barry-Schoen also placed in multiple livestock categories.
The Pacifica 4-H is still accepting new members and families for the 2020-2021 year. Youth projects offered this year include baking, yoga, character drawing, Dungeons and Dragons, and livestock raising, including chickens, dairy goats, lambs, and rabbits. All meetings are currently held remotely to promote safe social distancing.
4-H is a national organization for kids, 5 to 19, that teaches young people about leadership, community and life skills, and all people are welcome to come and learn more about what we have to offer. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
