We said goodbye to Margie Lucille D’India, 87, on Dec. 19, 2020. Margie was born to Valetta and Oliver Borchardt on May 8, 1933, in Chicago, Ill.
After a five-year engagement, she married Philip William D’India on Aug. 1, 1953, and together they raised their three children, Cheryl Bolton, Bill D’India and Susan Reed, in Pacifica. Before moving from San Francisco to Pacifica in 1967, Margie and Bill would take the children to Pacifica every weekend for a year to make sure they were going to like the weather there.
As a daycare provider for more than 40 years, Margie became a “second mom” and “Gramie Margie”to so many children of Pacifica. Often nap times were scheduled in a way that she would be able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine that she loved so much. She also enjoyed working out in the yard in that sunshine, and, if the San Francisco Giants or the San Francisco 49ers were playing, there was always a radio nearby with the game on.
Margie was an elegant woman who spent her life striving to be the perfect wife and mother. She never did anything halfway. Whether it was her appearance, her home, a table setting or the decorations for the Christmas tree, she loved having everything done just right.
She is survived by her husband, Philip, their three children, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
