On Oct. 6, at about 7:40 p.m., Pacifica Police Officers and members of North County Fire Authority responded to the report of a multiple vehicle collision in the 500 block of Inverness Drive.
It was reported that one of the vehicles was upside down, and a person was trapped inside.
Upon officers’ arrival, they located a silver SUV that had rolled over, and was on its roof
in the middle of the street. Officers and responding fire personnel were able to free the
driver, and sole occupant, of this vehicle.
Officers began an investigation, and determined that the driver of the silver SUV was
suspected of operating his vehicle while intoxicated and texting on his cellular telephone
while there was heavy fog in the area. He then collided with two unoccupied parked
vehicles, causing his vehicle to roll over.
Inverness Drive was closed from 7:40 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. between Manor Drive and
Glencourt Way to facilitate the collision investigation and the safe removal of the
The driver was identified as 54 year old Steven Franks of Pacifica, CA. He was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, 23152(a)(b) CVC, and released on a criminal promise to appear at an area hospital where he was treated for his minor injuries.
This investigation is continuing.
