San Mateo County remains stuck at the worst level in the state’s new color-coded chart of progression — level “purple.”
But Pacifica Councilmember Sue Vaterlaus said in a forum on Saturday that this week the county may qualify to move to “red” status, a designation that would allow more indoor commerce.
As of Sunday, 143 people in the county have died of COVID-19, according to county statistics. The county does not break out deaths by city.
Pacifica has recorded 206 coronavirus cases, Montara 12, Half Moon Bay 305, Moss Beach 35 and Daly City 1,515.
Since the pandemic hit, San Mateo County has tested 161,829 people with 9,275 testing positive.
