Ian Anderson Owens, a beautiful, big-brown-eyed angel, was sent to us 46 years ago, but he was unexpectedly taken from us, it’s believed, on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, apparently from a heart attack.
“Handsome man” was the pet name given him by his loving mama, Sally Owens, since his birth in San Diego, Calif., in 1974.
During his life, Ian, his mom and brother, lived off and on in Pacifica with his aunt and uncle, Linda and Tom Jonas and cousins Jocelyn and Logan. Another very close cousin who’d spent time living with Ian’s family, Cindy Taylor, also lives in Pacifica.
Ian and Caleb attended schools in Pacific — Ortega and Terra Nova — for five years and have kept in touch with many friends here.
After high school, Ian joined the Navy and spent four years stationed at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, on Coronado Island, off the coast of San Diego. His rank was E3, and he was an FN fireman who worked on amphibious vehicle engines.
Ian worked as a CNA in Spokane and was licensed in California, Nevada, Idaho and Washington. His last place of residence was in Spokane, Wash., just across the state line from his mom’s residence in Idaho. It was there that his mom discovered him on Thursday, Dec. 10.
Though never married, Ian was finally told that a relationship he’d been involved with while in the Navy had produced a son, Stanley, who is now 24. This was an extremely happy event in Ian’s life!
Ian has always been known as a very loving, poetic kind of person. He wrote his own verse and drew his own depictions of things meaningful to him. Those who loved him always knew how deeply various things affected him. He was an avid reader, and his library of varied books is vast.
Ian is survived by his son, Stanley Dudek and partner Kaleigh Wilkins; mom Sally and her significant other, Nick Sidwell; brother Caleb and his wife, Gena, and children Alivia and Greyson; by half-brother John Evans and his wife, Megan, and daughter Rhiannon; by his aunt Linda and uncle Tom; grandfather Kenneth Loyd; cousin Jocelyn Perlow and her husband, Josh, and children Jonas and Rhiannon; by cousins Logan Jonas and Julian Gonzalez; cousin Cindy Taylor and former partner Michelle Dion and their sons, Roan and Kean; aunt Louise Chibante and
cousin Charles Chibante and family; cousin Colleen Taylor; aunt Annie Hoefer
and her husband, Larry, and their children and grandchildren.
Ian’s father, Ralph Owens, predeceased him in 2010. His family members include uncle Robert Owens, aunt Jori Owens, aunt Melissa Owens, aunt Mary Jane Owens, and cousin Karl Hugo.
